Plumes: “I Feel That My Music Helps the Animals”
PETBOOK: How did you come to sing for animals?
Plumes: “I started singing for cows because I lived in the country with my grandmother, and there were a lot of cows there. It was an incredible experience as they all gathered around and listened to me for nearly an hour! Since that day, I have fallen in love with singing for animals, and I haven’t stopped. I believe it helps the animals to unwind and find peace in a world where, sadly, they often face harsh treatment.”
Can you remember the moment when you realized that the animals were responding to you and your music?
“There is such a thing as first love, and for me, it was always the cows! They consistently appear to engage with the music when I perform for them. They are very gentle and curious creatures. I’ve also discovered that elephants and horses are quite sensitive and have a profound reaction to music.”
“In the End, All the Animals Come to Listen to the Music”
In your experience, are there animals that are more musical than others? And are there perhaps also particularly unmusical animals?
“I wouldn’t say that some animals are less musical, but maybe some are a bit more shy and cautious, so it takes a bit longer to get used to each other, but in the end, all the animals come to hear the music.”
What I particularly like about your videos is that you can see that you have managed to make some very shy animals curious about your music and that some animals want to make music with you. What has particularly touched you?
“That’s right, once a parrot started moving its head to the music and dancing, that was incredible! I also feel very lucky because I had the opportunity to sing for an okapi, which is a very shy and rare animal. I was told that there was no chance of it approaching me because of its nature, but it ended up listening to me for almost an hour. It was a great experience!”
Why Plumes Prefers to Serenade Animals with Love Songs
Have you discovered any particular genres or sounds that animals particularly like?
“I try to play very melodic and soothing sounds, mostly love songs, because I think the intention and energy you share is very important.”
Do you have a long-term goal for your music for animals? For example, do you want to calm stressed animals or support therapeutic causes?
“My goal is to raise awareness about abused and endangered animals and species! That’s why some of my videos have links to organizations that help animals. And perhaps to enlighten people about the true nature of animals as living, sentient beings!”
